What is a CMRA?
A Commercial Mail Receiving Agency (“CMRA”) is a business, other than the United States Postal Service, that accepts delivery of mail from the Postal Service on behalf of others. Parcel Pointe operates as a USPS-registered CMRA at every store location where we rent private mailboxes.
USPS Form 1583
Federal regulations require every CMRA customer to complete USPS Form 1583, “Application for Delivery of Mail Through Agent,” before we can accept mail on their behalf. Form 1583 identifies the customer to the Postal Service and authorizes Parcel Pointe to receive their mail.
What you'll need
To rent a mailbox at Parcel Pointe you'll need to provide:
- A completed and signed Form 1583 (we'll walk you through it).
- Two forms of valid identification. One must be a photo ID (driver's license, state ID, or passport).
- Your current residential address.
- If renting for a business, documentation showing your relationship to the business.
Identity verification and privacy
We verify identity documents securely and retain Form 1583 records as required by USPS regulations. We do not sell personal information collected during mailbox sign-up. See our privacy notice for how we handle personal information generally.
Address format
Federal regulations require mail addressed to a CMRA box to use the CMRA street address followed by “PMB” (Private Mailbox) and your box number. Parcel Pointe will provide the exact address format at sign-up. This format is required for all mail and packages, from every carrier.
Prohibited use
A Parcel Pointe mailbox address may not be used to receive mail on behalf of a person or entity other than those listed on Form 1583. Attempting to receive mail for unauthorized recipients, or using a mailbox for fraudulent purposes, may result in cancellation of service and referral to the Postal Inspection Service.
